STUDENT MINISTRIES DIRECTOR AT MARVIN METHODIST CHURCH (TYLER, TX)

Job Summary

The Student Ministries director will be working alongside our ministry team with a focus on students grade 6-12 to provide spiritual guidance and discipleship. This position involves working closely with our young families and engaging our youth in meaningful and impactful activities that align with our church’s mission and values of “Call, Equip, Send”.

Marvin Methodist Church is a dynamic and rapidly growing Global Methodist congregation located in Tyler, Texas with a rich history of faithful followers dating back 175 years. Our membership of 3,200 is characterized by a vibrant community of families who are deeply committed to their faith. We are a biblical-based church with a strong emphasis on missions and outreach, both locally and globally. Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Leadership: Provide biblical teaching, mentorship, and spiritual guidance to boys and girls grade 6-12, helping them grow in their faith and relationship with Christ.
  • Youth Programming: Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate programs, activities, trips, and events that foster a sense of community and discipleship.
  • Mission Focused: Working with our missions team to infuse a global mission’s perspective into the student ministry, encouraging youth participation in local mission projects and trips.
  • Ministry Care: Build relationships with students and their families, offering support, counseling, and a listening ear during times of need or crisis.
  • Volunteer Engagement: Engage and equip volunteers to assist in various aspects of Student Ministry, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all activities.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with pastors, church staff, and ministry teams to integrate youth ministry into the overall church vision and mission.
  • Communication: Keep parents and the congregation informed about Student Ministry events, activities, and accomplishments through regular updates, newsletters, and announcements.

DIRECTOR OF YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRIES AT CENTENARY METHODIST CHURCH (CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO)

Job Summary

The Director of Youth and Family Ministries will oversee existing and develop new ministries for  children, youth, college, and families. This position will be responsible for planning, coordinating and  leading an intentional program dedicated to spiritually growing individuals within each ministry.  

In collaboration with the Senior Pastor and other colleagues, should lead efforts to achieve the  purpose of being the church that changes hearts through the love of Jesus, through expanding our  reach in various initiatives in youth and family programming.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In close collaboration with the Senior Pastor, the Director of Youth and Family Ministries will help to cast the vision for youth of all ages and families to experience the presence of God. The role of this position is to create, maintain and support the vision of Centenary Methodist Church by building a  

foundation of worshiping, walking and welcoming all to glorify God and serve our community. Areas  of collaborative effort would be for example: 

  • Build and maintain a strong ministry that effectively disciples children, youth, college, and  families inside and outside the walls of Centenary Church. 
  • Plan and promote camps, retreats, trips, concerts, mission trips, outreach events, and other  missional endeavors for age-appropriate groups.  
  • Build and foster strategic partnerships with parents, schools, and youth organizations. Shepherd and disciple volunteers by recruiting a talented team moving them toward a deeper  commitment to Christ who will invest in the lives of our children’s, youth, and adult ministries. Work within established budgets to achieve the objectives of assigned programs. Oversee and assist by providing guidance and assistance to programs including – Sunday  School, confirmation class, youth group, college ministry, and intergenerational programs. Facilitates regular youth meetings for students.
  • Integrate the children’s and youth ministry with the larger church body. 
  • Plays a vital part of the church staff team attending staff meetings and encouraging and  supporting the overall mission of the church. 
  • Actively participates in church and church events. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Must have leadership qualities to attract, train and lead volunteer and/or employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Some college or a bachelor’s is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience with youth and family ministry. Attend continuing education seminars to enhance the gifts given for ministry.

Mulder Church is seeking our next full-time Director of Student Ministries to oversee the spiritual growth and development of students in grades 7-12. POSITION TITLE: Director of Student Ministries
PAY CATEGORY: Full-time, competitive annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, health insurance and retirement benefits, and paid time off.
PURPOSE: Provides spiritual growth opportunities for students in grades 7 through 12.
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Senior Pastor
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A four-year college degree in student ministries, Christian education, secondary education, or a closely related field. Ability to plan, organize, and manage group activities. Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Establishes and nurtures good working relationships with staff members and volunteer workers to promote a spirit of teamwork in the church.
  • Establishes and maintains pastoral relationships with students and their parents.
  • Researches, evaluates, purchases and implements curriculum and other resource materials that will enhance the spiritual growth of students.
  • Plans and provides personal oversight for weekly student ministries such as Sunday School and evening student programs.
  • Plans and provides personal oversight for special student ministries such as service projects, seasonal programs, and mission trips.
  • Recruits, trains, and personally supervises volunteer workers for Student Ministries.
  • Manages all financial resources used in Student Ministries including budgeting, fund raising, and record keeping for special events, trips, and programs.
  • Ensures compliance with Safe Sanctuaries policies including facilitating routine training and administering background checks for volunteers.
  • Represents Student Ministries in staff and Church Council meetings.
  • Participates regularly with other church staff members in greeting students arriving at the Redland Elementary School on Mondays during the school year.
  • Participates in continuing education related to student ministries.
  • Maintains a current certification in CPR.
  • Maintains a current Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
