Library Resources for Alumni!
The B. L. Fisher Library’s service to you continues after graduation. As an alumnus you still have access to some of the same resources that you enjoyed as a student. Whether you need material for a sermon or wish to engage critical thinking skills, we have material that meets your needs.
Over 30,000 items are available on ePlace, our digital library. Highlights include older chapel services, the Asbury Journal, The Journal of Inductive Biblical Studies, The Pentecostal Herald, ATS dissertations, and First Fruits publications. Access ePlace by navigating to place.asburyseminary.edu. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer access to TREN, but we still have a plethora of resources for you to utilize.
Learn a new language with Mango Languages. We are excited to extend access to this software to you. Similar to other language-learning softwares, Mango Languages takes an immersive approach – focusing on grammar, vocabulary and culture. Mango Languages offers training in over 70 languages with 19 ESL courses and several speciality courses designed to boost language and vocabulary skills in specific areas such as Religious and Scholarly Koine Greek and Romance Spanish. Mango Languages is available online, and has an app available for both iOS and Android. But what really sets Mango Languages apart is its use of movies. Mango takes you line by line and scene by scene through movies representative of the cultures that created them – helping you to get a better grasp of both the language and the culture.
Get materials from the B.L. Fisher Library sent to you. As always, you are welcome to check out books and view articles that we have within our collection. If you’re not in the Wilmore or Orlando area, you can check out books and request articles that we have in our collection through Library Loan. We will pay to ship books to you; however, you are responsible for returning materials on time and for any return shipping costs. Books can be checked out for one month at a time with two, one-month renewals.
You may also access articles online via JSTOR, one of the leading full-text databases. Although JSTOR offers content in a variety of subject areas, our subscription primarily focuses on the humanities – taking into account the needs of scholars within our community. In order to access JSTOR you must register for an account first. Visit our alumni webpage for further instructions.
Access to ATLASerials for Alumni is our best gift to you. This database is indexed by professional theological librarians and features many full-text articles. The greatest asset of this database is its scripture citation search that lets users search by a specific passage of the Bible. For instructions on how to search by scripture citation, see our tutorial page. This tool is very helpful for exegetical work and sermon preparation.
