Summer Leadership & Ministry Program at Asbury University

Published Date: November 1, 2019

Asbury University offers a leadership program during the summer for high school students called “Youth Becoming Leaders.” This past summer, the program saw seminary professors teach courses to these students which adds a great theological foundation experience for these adolescents and their young adult counselors.

Assistant Director and current Asbury Theological Seminary student, Lauren Edgell, had this to say about the program:

“The purpose of YBL is to equip high school students for theologically guided living and decision making through immersion in scripture, theological texts, tradition and community to lead and serve in a complex global society. We do this by bringing students to campus for a two-week residential program, where they receive classroom and experiential training from AU and ATS faculty and staff, as well as practice in spiritual disciplines, visits with church staff, service opportunities and nightly worship services. We also build long-term intentionality and transformation into our program through mentoring relationships and student initiated service projects.”
