MAYOR HONORS ATS ALUM WITH “KEY TO THE TOWNSHIP”

Leslie Samuel, a 2008 ATS graduate with a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies, is currently a pastor in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. This is a highly diverse and multi-religious region of the state. He was recently honored by the Mayor with the “Key to the Township” award. In his words, “It is only the fourth time it has been awarded, and we are the only faith-based organization to have received one. We’re praising God for the favor He has given us in the region, and believing for more souls to be added to the Kingdom!”

ATS ALUM PUBLISHES A BOOK ON HOSPITALITY

image.pngBruce Galyon is a 1988 graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary. He writes, “I have been a United Methodist pastor in the Holston Conference for 42 years. In the past 10 years I have devoted my study, research, and learning in the arena of church hospitality. For the past five years I had been leading workshops on hospitality for certified lay ministers in the Holston Conference. Our conference director of lay ministries encouraged me to write a book, which I have done. This book provides practical, easy-to-do steps of how churches have ministries of exceptional hospitality to their visitors.”

The title says it all: Visitor-Focused Exceptional Hospitality. This is a timely, relevant book that Rev. Galyon notes “is for any church regardless of denomination. I think churches of small, medium, and large memberships would find it helpful.”

Dr. Alan Weissenbacher (M.Div., 2002) published The Brain Change Program: 6 Steps to Renew Your Mind and Transform Your Life – A Practical Guide to Emotional and Spiritual Healing.

Ever read Romans 12:2 (Be transformed by the renewing of your mind) and II Cor. 10:5 (take every thought captive) and wonder how exactly to do that? Dr. Weissenbacher combines years of rehabilitation counseling with his doctoral research in spiritual healing and neuroscience to provide practical steps to control your mind.

The Brain Change Program has been featured in over 30 radio interviews including Jesus Calling, Lighthouse Faith (Fox News Religion Podcast), Significant Woman Podcast, Moody Radio, and the Sam Sorbo Show, and in 5 Television appearances including CBN News Healthy Living, TCT Television, and Cornerstone Television Network.

From the back:

Become the person God created you to be.

When we think of self-improvement, our minds often turn to dieting, exercise, or productivity hacks. But without understanding how the mind works, these improvements are unlikely to stick.

In The Brain Change Program, Dr. Alan Weissenbacher merges neuroscience with biblical wisdom and leads you through his six-step program to achieve lasting, meaningful change. He shares actionable, lifelong strategies and tools to help you

  • unlock the mysteries of your brain,
  • gain control over destructive thoughts and behaviors,
  • redesign your prayer life,
  • guide yourself into right thinking, and
  • cultivate Christlike character.

Set foot on a radical journey of self-discovery, where joy, fulfillment, and spiritual transformation await.

Endorsements:

Transform to a hopeful, energized “normal” by hardwiring your brain to work positively for you, rather than against you. Weissenbacher’s innovative steps―backed by neuroscience and real-life application―bypass emotional roadblocks, triggers for destructive thoughts and actions, and pave the path toward freedom, joy, and lasting change.

–Dr. Kevin Leman, internationally known veteran psychologist and New York Times bestselling author of more than fifty books, including The Birth Order BookHave a New Kid by Friday, and Sheet Music

Dr. Weissenbacher integrates discoveries in the field of neuroscience with the unchanging truth of Scripture to address the struggles of anyone seeking to make personal changes. By educating the reader as to why change is difficult, he helps to relieve the burdens of shame and failure that often occur. He includes an action plan that applies to any harmful, negative, or destructive behavior, including negative thinking, substance abuse, pornography addiction, disordered eating, overspending, media addiction, or any other behavior interfering with one’s relationship with God and others.

–Joyce Williams, MS, LPC, founder of Light of the Rockies Christian Counseling Center
