Asbury Seminary welcomes Rev. Dr. Kylie McCormick as the new Director of Community Formation. She will join the Community Formation team June 1, 2023.

Dr. McCormick has served in a variety of ecumenical contexts and is passionate about spiritual formation in the body of Christ. Most recently, she served as Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Next Generation Ministry at Blue Oaks Church in Pleasanton, CA, focusing on staff and congregational formation. Prior to her position at Blue Oaks Church, she served in spiritual formation roles in academic settings.

“We are thrilled to bring Rev. Dr. McCormick onto our team. Kylie has a deep passion for the formation of authentic Christian community, which has been the focus of her vocation and academic research,” said Rev. Dr. Matt Barnes, Vice President of Formation. “She will bring insight, sincerity, and empathy into her role as the Director of Community Formation, and we are excited to see her make a positive impact on our community here at Asbury Seminary.”

Dr. McCormick received her Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and her doctorate in Theology from the University of Birmingham. She was a water polo athlete in high school and college. She loves live music shows and festivals and how community is formed through them. Her other interests include Formula 1 racing, nature trails, and international travel with friends.
