Committed to making a difference in fighting world hunger, the student body of Asbury Theological Seminary, supported by the Office of Global Community Formation, hosted a 50,000+ all-day meal packaging experience on October 26th.
Partnering with Stop Hunger Now, stophungernow.org, this student led initiative  set an ambitious goal to package 50,000 meals, raising $12,500 and 180 volunteers. The packaged meals will go to ongoing school feeding programs and orphanages in developing countries to increase education rates, providing a way out of poverty by sustaining lifelong change.  Providing a hot meal during school gives parents an incentive to send their children to school.  Through receiving a primary school education, the cycle of poverty can begin to be broken by leveraging change in many other issues including education, maternal health, childhood mortality, gender equality and combating HIV/AIDS.
