WILMORE, KY – The Global Methodist Church announced today that Asbury Theological Seminary is a recommended educational institution for the completion of the educational requirements for ordination. This official recognition solidifies the collaboration between the two organizations and aligns with Asbury Seminary’s mission to equip the next generation for the ongoing ministry of the Church. “Since our founding in 1923, we have answered the call to spread scriptural holiness throughout the world,” Dr. Timothy C. Tennent, President of Asbury Seminary, said. “We share a vision with the Global Methodist Church to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ, and it is a sacred privilege to serve the Church by equipping men and women to answer that call.”

Asbury Seminary’s founding president, Dr. H. C. Morrison had seen the need for ongoing training for Christian evangelists. In 1923, he opened Asbury Seminary with a class of three students and an audacious seal that read “The Whole Bible for the Whole World.” Answering this call for 100 years and counting, Asbury Seminary is now a multi-denominational graduate school committed to teaching the unchanging truth of orthodox Christianity. Traditionally Wesleyan, Asbury Seminary welcomes more than 1,800 students from 80+ denominations and 50 countries. Locations in Memphis, Tulsa, Colorado Springs, Tampa, Orlando, and Wilmore, Ky. allow students to pursue their degrees in a residential, hybrid or online format.
