WILMORE, Ky., July 22, 2025—This morning, Asbury Seminary grieves the loss of David Russell, the husband of Dr. Sue Russell, Professor of Mission and Contextual Studies, who passed away last night. The Seminary extends heartfelt condolences to Dr. Russell and her family, and we invite our community to join us in prayers of peace and comfort for them and all who are grieving David’s passing.

In a special message to the Asbury Seminary community on the night of his passing, Dr. Russell wrote: “Tonight, David passed peacefully in his sleep. I want to thank you, the community, for your support for us, especially after David had his spinal cord injury. Your love, prayers, and concern have been an encouragement and comfort.”
