Bringing New Life to Existing Churches:
A Revitalization Roundtable with Dr. Mark Gornik
Friday, October 17 in MC205-206
The church of the future will increasingly find itself in globalized, urban contexts. The “global” element will often take the form of diaspora churches from around the world taking root in our communities. But how do we understand the role they play within the city? How do we connect with these churches and partner with them for mutual strengthening?
On Friday, October 17, the Center for the Study of World Christian Revitalization Movements will host a one hour open discussion with Dr. Mark Gornik of City Seminary New York (http://www.cityseminaryny.org). Dr. Gornik is the author of World Made Global: Stories of African Christianity in New York City (Eerdmans, 2011) and To Live in Peace: Biblical Faith and the Changing Inner City (Eerdmans, 2002). Both books reflect his long experience as a church planter and pastor in major urban contexts.
