Asbury Theological Seminary announces the opening of its newest extension site at Lifesong Church in Orlando, Fla., as part of the Asbury Seminary Global Initiative. Asbury Seminary has designed this new global-learning site to make its high-quality Seminary education more accessible to co-vocational students and post-traditional learners who want some face-to-face interaction with professors and students without needing to relocate.

“In keeping with our vision of The Whole Bible for the Whole World, we are committed to giving our future students the flexibility of online education along with powerful residential experiences in an increasing number of sites which make education more accessible to men and women who otherwise would not be able to pursue theological education,” Dr. Timothy C. Tennent, President of Asbury Seminary, said. “In keeping with our 2023 Strategic plan that marks the Seminary’s 100th birthday, this new site allows us to continue to prepare women and men to serve around the world.”

In addition to the Florida Dunnam Campus, this new site with Asbury Seminary Global offers a new location and greater access to Asbury Seminary for Florida students. This new location opens Fall of 2022 and allows students to take hybrid courses that are partly online, but also have one or two intensive classroom sessions per semester in a more traditional classroom environment. Global Learning students learn where they live and work, while receiving contextual education related to their personal and professional goals.

Students will be able to take courses at the Lifesong Church location that lead to various graduate degrees, including the Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees in Ministry, Bible and Theology, Church Planting, and Spiritual Formation.

With the launch of this new site in Orlando, Asbury Seminary now has five extension sites in addition to its main campus in Wilmore, Ky. The Seminary has educational sites in Memphis, Tenn., Tulsa, Okla., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Orlando, Fla.—with the goal of making its hybrid courses more accessible to more students in more geographic regions throughout the U.S.

The new Orlando site is located within Lifesong Church, 2800 S Alafaya Trail, Orlando, Fla. 32828. Lifesong was planted 14 years ago by 150 people committed to reaching the East Orlando community for Jesus. Using John 10:10 as a model, they seek to live lives in the fullness of Jesus Christ.

Asbury Seminary’s partnerships with Lifesong and other ministry organizations throughout Orlando offer ministry opportunities to students as a part of their preparation. These partnerships will also give students opportunities to be mentored by those currently working in local, regional, national, and international ministries.
