The inward shape of the servant is not one of fear or duty. It is one of opportunity, humility, excitement and a deep assurance of our faith. Being a child of God means we can’t do anything more to earn God’s favor or love. Although we don’t have to do anything to earn God’s love, that doesn’t mean we are called to do nothing. We are called to love and serve others through different acts of service daily, not for our own gain or credit, but to bring glory to God.
